Volvo introduced its own take on the chauffer-driven upper-class vehicle. And it’s not the typical luxury things inside (plenty of them), that you can identify the car’s type by, but an implemented system representing … an absent front passenger seat.

His Excellency Volvo S90

Yes, you heard it right - designers replaced the seat of the Volvo S90 Excellence with a shoebox and proudly called it the Lounge Console.

First impression aside, you see that this is actually a well thought-out decision aimed at delivering impeccably pleasant ride for the rear occupant. The act begins with you carelessly shoving the shoes into the cubby and making yourself comfortable in front of the high quality touchscreen.

There are three modes for you: 1) mobile workstation with the foldout table to work on the next million-dollars deal; 2) entertainment mode to unwind while watching some movies; 3) relax mode where you are to push numerously adjustable seat backwards, spread out your legs and let your feet rest. Of course, it’s not forbidden to mix these modes for your convenience.

His Excellency Volvo S90

Perfect driving is provided with a mighty hybrid using 316bhp turbocharged V4 and 86bhp electric motor plus a host of advanced driver aids.

What else is there to say? Cheers to the prosperous future of Volvo S90 Excellence (clinking crystal Orrefors glasses from the sedan’s refrigerator)!
