Aston Martin never fails to amaze us. They have built a brand new super powerful 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine with 600 horsepower. First model getting to test it is DB11. Later, other Aston Martin models, like a new flagship SUV and Laguna will be powered with this engine as well at lest for 10 to 15 years.

“This is job one for the next-generation of V12 engine that will be at the heart of Aston Martin’s second-century strategic plan for expansion,” said CEO Andy Palmer.

The brand-new engine is being built at Aston Martin’s factory at Niehl, Cologne. The engine called AE31 is made on the base of an old one AE28 – the 6.0-litre V12 with redesigned key components. It will have 600 hp and 700Nm of torque. The fuel economy factor is also a major concern.

"I’m determined to keep the team working on the engine. And I think we might be able to get it below 250g/km," said Dr Brian Fitzsimons, Aston’s head of powertrain.

In the process of development Aston relied on AVL, the German engineering consultants in the matter of emissions testing and proving.
